Check back here regularly to find out what's going on at 607 Wearmouth Squadron.
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our Commanding Officer Flt Lt Jan Smith RAFAC.
She was truely dedicated to our squadron and the young people. She worked hard to ensure that each and every cadet did the best they could and got as much from the organisation as possible.
She dedicated nearly 30 years to the Air Cadet organisation. She spent 13 of those years as Officer Commanding 607 (Wearmouth) Squadron in a role in which she helped to inspire so many Cadets and
Adult Volunteers.
Boss you will be truly missed.
Our thoughts are with her family at this time.
Cadets across the country celebrated the 79th anniversary of formation of the Air Training Corps on Sunday 2nd February 2020.
607 (Wearmouth) Squadron was no different, we joined in celebrations and a service of thanksgiving at St. Andrews Church in Newcastle upon Tyne.
The Air Training Corps, part of the Royal Air Force Air Cadets organisation, was formed by royal warrent on the 5th February 1941 and Air Cadets mark this date with celebrations on the closest Sunday to the anniversary, the Sunday is referred to as ATC Sunday. ATC Sunday is always a great opportunity for reflection and thanks for the organisation that a brought us all together with a shared interest.
The night also saw the annual presentations of our Squadron trophies, the recipients were as follows:
